Weaving is a special tradition in the Indigenous Australia culture. Weaving shows the love and connection to the land and spirit of the people. The designs often represent the ancestral and cultural beliefs.
Different natural fibres are used, such as bark, reeds, palm leaves, a variety of grasses and even human hair which can be twined with the grasses. This traditions are still practiced today.
Play mat measures approx 40cm x 40cm and converts as a bag that is rolled up for carrying or storage.
Royalties are paid to the designer artist Sherren Gross of the Nunukul, Nughie and Gorenpul people from Mijerribah in Quandamooka of the Eastern side of Australia. A story card is included written by the artist.
The product is hand crafted by talented artisans in Fair Trade sewing and embroidery organisation in India.
